This studio consists of two parts: the design & fabrication of the façade, which is related to the innovative creation of forms and the application of robotic arms, including clay printing/glazing; and the complex programming, which includes several different programs and client requirements.
The clay printing of the facade component are showed in this page. Trying to convey the feeling of being infinite, twisted column constantly merging with it's neighbor then detached from it. The more functional part is to keep all of the clay printing unglazed. In this condition, the porosity nature of the fired clay, enables water infiltrating from the inside to the outside. This process would constantly happen, based on the Venturi effect. So when we wired water tube inside of the clay components, this clay facade keep the building interior away from high tempeture, without mechanical air conditioner.
